Hallmark Christmas Special 2023

This is our fifth year of doing our Hallmark special, and apparently the gods who oversee podcasts didn’t want us to celebrate because they cursed our show and we lost one of our host shortly after we began. We didn’t lose him like he died or something, just some technical issues. Just know that Ryan really wanted to talk about Christmas in the Rockies, but now you will never know how it was. I

n case this is our last episode of 2023, we hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

Enjoy!

Hallmark 2021 (Patreon Episode)

We know that a lot of you are traveling for the holidays, and maybe looking for some helping passing the long hours of traffic gray scenery. That is why we went ahead a released last year’s “Hallmark” episode that was originally just for “Patrons only”. Maybe you give it a listen, maybe you think we are entertaining, maybe you head on over to our Patreon page so you can listen to the 2022 Hallmark episode. We think you’re definitely worth the meager investment.

Have a happy and safe holidays!

Enjoy!

Movie Night: All I Want for Christmas

Christmas has come and gone, but we aren’t done with our celebrating. So here is one more Christmas movie to tide you over until 2021. This week we are watching and discussing Sean’t selection, All I Want for Christmas. Just because this is the last Christmas movie we are doing this year, doesn’t mean it it is the least. The terrible story…that’s why it’s the least.

Enjoy!

3rd Annual Hallmark Christmas Special

It really is the most wonderful time of year as the four of us get together (virtually) to talk about all the Hallmark movies that we watched this year. There are highs and there are lows, but good times are had by all. If you want to know what’s in store for you, these are the are the titles we went with:

-One Royal Holliday

-The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

-A Nashville Christmas Carol

-If I Only had Christmas

-Pride, Prejudice, & Mistletoe

-A Christmas in Vermont

-On the 12th Date of Christmas

-Christmas Waltz

-Feliz Navidad

It’s an impressive list, but nothing but the best for our listeners.

Enjoy!

Christmas Chronicles 2

After a couple of unusual choices for holiday episodes, this week we talked about the Netflix movie, Christmas Chronicles 2. I was instructed to say that even though this is a family film, we may have slipped, and cursed early on during the show, but that is not a reflection of our thoughts or opinions towards CC2, but rather and indicator of our limited vocabulary.

So sit back and join us as we try and figure out what happened to Chris Columbus.

Enjoy!

Movie Night: Trapped in Paradise

Sticking with the holiday theme, this week Roy asked us to watch the perhaps forgotten gem from 1994, Trapped in Paradise. This was a hot minute before Nicholas Cage took over the late 90’s, and you can just start to see the beginnings of those tale-tell Cage mannerisms. So sit back with a big mug of hot chocolate, then grab a big bottle of bourbon cream, now mix it all together while watching Trapped in Paradise.

Movie Night: Fatman

Fatman…what can we really say about this strange satire/action/comedy about Santa and the over-commercialization of Christmas? My guess is we can say about 35 minutes worth of things…on this episode…because this is a podcast where we talk about movies. I really thought you would have figured that out by now.

Enjoy!

Noelle

Merry Christmas! We know that some of you are traveling for the holidays, and maybe you want to listen to some nerds talk about Christmas movies while you wait for your luggage at the airport. Don't worry, we got you. This week we continue with our run of holiday cheer as we discuss the Disney+ original, Noelle, along with Netflix originals Let it Snow and Santa Girl. These movies just go to show you that Hallmark isn’t the only game in town when it comes to completely cheesy, shot in 2 weeks, barely a movie, entertainment.

Enjoy!

Hallmark Christmas Movies - #2

It’s the season for giving, so we are giving you even more Hallmark Christmas movies. Honestly, I feel like we could do a whole separate podcast where we just watch these all year round. If 2020 is anything like 2019, we may have to do that just to feel some kind of joy in our lives. Anyway… this week we talk about Broadcasting Christmas, Write Before Christmas, and Merry & Bright. Aren’t those just the most compelling titles you’ve ever seen? It would be easy to act all Grinchy towards these movies, but we are suckers for this kind of sap, so they get a lot of love from us.

Enjoy!

Hallmark Christmas Movies -#1

This year we ended up watching enough Hallmark films that we actually recorded two episodes on the subject. On this week’s episode, we discuss Christmas Town, Christmas Camp, and Christmas in Rome. I love that there is never any mystery to a Hallmark movie, not event the title. After the kind of year 2019 has been, maybe we can all take comfort in that level of simplicity.

Enjoy!

Christmas Classics

I know that it is the day after Christmas, but we just have too much of the holiday spirit in us to give up the ghost just yet. For the last of our Christmas themed episodes, we all tried to watch a “classic” holiday film that we probably should have seen before 2018. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of bah humbuggery or grinchiness there was, since some of these movies are pretty silly. I guess we can chalk it up to all those Christmas miracles that always seem to be happening.

The Christmas Chronicles

Sometimes Ryan throws a curveball and instead of suggesting a horror film or dark comedy, he pitches the idea to do a show on the Netflix original The Christmas Chronicles. Any film starring Kurt Russel is welcome on COTR, so here is our episode on what has already become an instant classic…somehow.

Hallmark Christmas Movies!

For this episode we each chose a random Hallmark Christmas movie to watch and discuss. I know what you’re thinking… “If you’ve seen one Hallmark movie, haven’t you really seen them all?” Obviously the answer is “yes”, but that doesn’t mean that this won’t become and annual tradition here at Coming Off the Reels. So sit back as we discuss our viewings of North Pole, Christmas in the Smokies, Road to Christmas, and A Shoe Addict’s Christmas.

Enjoy!

Our favorite holiday movies

There are hundreds of holiday films out there, and that's only including this year's lineup of original Hallmark movies. Besides those, there are still a seemingly infinite amount of choices. We are here to help in anyway we can by suggesting some our favorite holiday films to revisit. I thought that this would be a civil conversation, but it turns out that some we don't all see eye to eye when it comes to some holiday "classics".

Enjoy!
