It took us 30 years to get here, but the Mission: Impossible franchise has finally come to an end…until they soft reboot it in a few years. Our opinions are as varied as the quality of the MI films in general, and while we may not agree about the last entry, we all agree that it’s better than the second one. When you find that kind of common ground, the rest of the stuff is just details.

Let’s just go ahead and get it out of the way, Top Gun: Maverick absolutely lives up to the hype, and should be seen on the biggest screen you can find. It turns out there is still a place for a big summer blockbuster that isn’t a comic book film, and this movie shows that people of all ages will still show up in droves for “event cinema”. This week we spend our time largely gushing over our favorite parts of this absolute thrill ride of a movie.
