This week we are talking about the new horror film, Primate. This was kind of a last minute episode that we recorded in the parking lot of our local AMC, and while microphones were brought, the screens that go over them were not. We are left with a pretty bad sounding show, but we are still posting it, warts and all.

This week we are discussing the latest series from Mike Flanagan, The Fall of the House of Usher. We also play a little catch up on some of the other things we’ve been watching lately. We apologize if we have missed some weeks lately, but the perfect storm of busy work schedules and sicknesses that won’t go away have made it a little bit difficult to record new shows. The weather is getting cooler, which means it is time to start talking about horror movies. We know that horror is good any time of year, but it just seems a little better when it isn’t 90º outside. This we are talking about a pair of movies that now available to stream, No One Will Save You and Talk to Me. We didn’t plan it, but these two movie pair unbelievably well together. For the most part, we really like both of these, so if you want to watch before you listen, please do so, because we will be spoiling them.

Here is another fine episode from the “Cabin Chronicles” series. While Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan isn’t a ver good movie, the episode that movie spawned is pretty solid. Plus it was late, and we were all a little loopy, so you know that helps. Maybe next time we will let people outside the show pick all the movies.

When we go to the woods to watch a bunch of movies, we don’t really like to pick winners and losers. That said, if we were to choose, Ryan’s selection, From Beyond, would undoubtedly be the winner. It really does have it all, and we are all better people for having watched it. God bless practical effects, especially the ones in this film.

Our plan was to do a movie night and then record on the new Hellraiser movie that was just released on Hulu. However, it turns out that 75% had never seen the original, so we decided to pivot and now this week is all about the disgustingly wonderful 1987 film, Hellraiser. This is, hands down, one of the squishiest movies of all time. God bless practical effects.

Well…the first Wishmaster movie was an absolute delight, so the 2nd one has to at least be okay…right? I mean, right?! It has to at least be a vague shadow of the original? It can’t just be a terribly thrown together movie that barely looks like a SyFy original, right? That wouldn’t be too much to ask, right? Maybe we should have just wished for a better sequel. Nothing bad every happens from making a wish… …right?

Well…we really try out best to break down the latest film from Alex Garland, Men. We would like to tell you that we understood everything that he was trying to say with this movie, but we undoubtedly missed something. Our opinions are a little all over the map, but we still managed to put together an okay episode, even if we did say the word “vagina” way more than usual.

This week we do a quick catch up on a couple of recent films to hit theaters. Both movies are dumb, but “dumb” is a pretty wide spectrum, and these two movies really show how different dumb movies can be. There is usually some petty disagreements on the show, it is kind of part of our charm, but this go round we were pretty much on the same page. It is very unusual and probably won’t happen again.

This is the last episode from our cabin weekend and we are finishing up the “Cabin Chronicles” with arguably the biggest hit of the weekend, Psycho Goreman. To say that those of us who hadn’t seen it were surprised would be an understatement. We strongly encourage anyone with any interest this film to watch it first, because I am not sure that our outbursts about random parts of this film will properly convey how much fun we had watching it.

A little while ago the four of us were able to get together for the first time in more than 2 years. We spent a weekend in a cabin in the the woods and all we did was watch movies and record episodes. The episodes from that weekend are affectionately known as The Cabin Chronicles. We took turns picking the movies, and the first one chosen was the 2007 Portuguese film, Rec. Fun fact, watching zombie movies in the middle of the woods definitely ups the creepy factor.

We tried our best to now get scared, but we were not up to the task. Roy decided to kick off our month of horror movies a little early by selecting Halloween 2 as his movie night choice. Can this immediate followup to the original capture the same magic? Absolutely not. Is it at least a serviceable horror movie? The answer to that question is the crux of this episode, but our opinions definitely vary. Regardless of what we thought, it dis kind of make us want to revisit this franchise.

We have been doing research for our next Rewind episode, but sometimes there’s a movie that sets itself apart from the fray. In a year that gave us Titanic and Good Will Hunting it could have been easy to miss Wishmaster, but do yourself a favor and make 90 minutes in your life this gem.
